okay, so. A number of you have mentioned: wait, but you arent allowed to ride this year?
I have an update for that.
I went and spoke to the doctor over exactly WHAT was I afriad of. (clots breaking off and pressing another nerve, just breaking open, what). It was just breaking open and bleeding out.
Okay, fair. its only on a huge impact, also okay. What are the odds the blood vessels under the scab are healed and I can ride, because that scab will take MONTHS if not a year to be reabsorbed.
doc: actually, i’m pretty convinced that the vessels are healed. But MRIs wont show that. Just the clots.
me: okay..is there a test I can do to scan the vessel itself?
doc: yea, an MRA. you have to see a neurologist for it thought.
so, TLDR: doc said dont ride as a cover-your-ass approach. And it was just advice.
so. I’m riding this year. VFR will be running by the end of this week I think. If I can find time to rebuild the carbs.
new daytona is a running.
there is a battery on the way for the 250.
READY TO ROLL BABY, (oh, and a new jacket on the way)

All the more reason to keep your internal radar on overdrive and to avoid anything even slightly scary looking in the area.
Stay safe out there.

It sounds like you’re trying to be sensible about it. There are plenty of stories about people either failing to do physical therapy or pushing themselves too hard after an injury and ending up in a situation where they never again perform at the same level or injure themselves worse and can’t participate at all.

yep.
its been 3 months since the crash
in that time, I had:
bruise on my ass
spine with 10 fractures
both shoulder blades with fractures
torn rotator cuff
scrapped knee.
ALL healed and back to 100% I get the brain heals differently, but I felt fine enough to ride. I just wanted to know exactly what i was afraid
of. If he told me: yea, the vibrations from the bike would break it up and you die. then no, no riding.
but this? nah. Back on two.

Getting back in the saddle after a crash, losing the timidness, and feeling in control again is amazing .

What exactly clotted? Curious since my job
is interpreting
MRI/MRAs and reporting the findings
.

They presumably have more info from other tests that allowed them to conclude they were infarcts from emboli (clots).
Otherwise I would have
said it’s just
small white matter contusions/axonal
shear injury from the
trauma.

Man, I am looking at Speed Triples and it is hard not to shell out the cash cause I miss riding, but buying one right now wouldn’t be wise for me. I totally understand the want to ride. Stay safe and healthy.
